A Chief Operations Officer (COO) with 10+ years' applicable experience (see below) is needed in the Toledo area. The COO will lead operations across two production sites. This executive-level position will play a pivotal role in driving efficiency, ensuring regulatory compliance, and scaling operations in alignment with strategic growth objectives.
The ideal candidate is a proactive, systems-oriented leader with deep experience in regulated manufacturing environments such as dietary supplements, food and beverage, or pharmaceuticals.
Chief Operations Officer (COO) Responsibilities
Lead, manage, and hold accountable department heads and functional leaders across two manufacturing facilities with over 150 total employees.
Establish and monitor clear KPIs to ensure performance excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Develop and enforce standardized operating procedures (SOPs), policies, and scalable systems that support operational growth.
Assess organizational structure and talent alignment to ensure the right people are in the right roles.
Represent the company during customer visits, partner meetings, and regulatory audits (FDA, cGMP, etc.).
Oversee cross-functional planning, training programs, and culture-building initiatives.
Partner with the CEO and CFO on strategic planning, budgeting, and capital allocation decisions.
Drive operational alignment between production, quality, logistics, and engineering teams.
Manage operational risks, mitigate disruptions, and promote a culture of accountability and excellence.
Travel up to, but not exceeding, 25% of the time.
Chief Operations Officer (COO) Requirements and Qualifications
10+ years of experience in operations leadership within a dietary supplements, food & beverage, or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
5+ years of senior management experience , ideally at the VP or C-level.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
Deep familiarity with GMPs, regulatory compliance, and manufacturing best practices.
Demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performance teams across multi-site operations.
Strong business acumen with experience overseeing budgets, KPIs, and cross-functional alignment.
Familiarity with facility layout optimization, capital projects, and equipment engineering.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP/MRP systems.
A hands-on leadership style with a passion for quality, innovation, and success.
