Working closely with the Senior Vice President, Chief Investment Officer and other team members, the Investment Analyst will play an instrumental role supporting the investment activities of Hackensack Meridian Health's (HMH) multiple investment portfolios. The role is a unique opportunity for early-career investment professionals to gain experience working across asset classes (including hedge funds, global equities, fixed income, private equity, venture capital and real assets) and interacting with some of the world's premier investment managers. In addition, they will support portfolio management activities such as performance tracking, asset allocation and operations. The successful candidate should be committed to and passionate about learning the art of institutional investing and how the work supports the mission of HMH.

Responsibilties

A day in the life of a Investment Analyst at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Work closely with the investment team in all aspects of the investment process including meeting with investment managers and evaluating opportunities both qualitatively and quantitatively.
  • Provide research support for senior team members including data gathering, data maintenance, organizational support, and analytical analysis.
  • Support monitoring of existing managers and onboarding of new managers to ensure they are accurately included in all internal reporting and tracking systems in accordance with established schedules and procedures.
  • Utilize, maintain, and update research management and portfolio management software systems
  • Participate in and document meetings and conference calls with investment partners.
  • Assist with the preparation of investment performance reports and investment fund information for the Investment Committee, Trustees, and other external constituents and/or audiences.
  • Conduct ad hoc studies and projects related to improving investment process, portfolio monitoring, operations, and risk systems.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adhere to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required :

  • Bachelor's degree with a strong academic record and an interest in understanding business fundamentals, capital markets, and investment strategies.
    • Preferred majors include: Accounting, Finance, Economics, and Math.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced skills in Excel and Google Workspace.
  • Intellectual curiosity and superior attention to detail.
  • Outstanding research skills with the ability to integrate quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Self-starter, flexible, and adaptive with a `roll up your sleeves' mentality.
  • Willingness to be mentored to develop the foundation of good investment judgment.
  • Team player who will build relationships and gain the confidence of colleagues.
  • Highest level of integrity, honesty, loyalty and commitment.
